It was suggested on the group that we come up with daily ways of combatting the negativity and loneliness and isolation that single parents might feel during the Covid-19 outbreak, and uncertainty in these times. So we have come up with a few things we can all get involved in plus share pictures of our finished product and build on our community, behind closed doors. Some will be silly, like today’s, others will be helping us to manage our mental health and others will be us coming together as a bad ass community.

This blog post is dedicated to all of the single parent nurses and doctors that are selflessly and tirelessly looking after other people whilst their children may also be ill. You are truly the unsung heroes of this.

TOILET ROLL CASTLE

What you’ll need:

  • At least 12 toilet rolls

  • Some card

  • Stick for the flag post

  • Double sided tape or glue

  • Colouring pens

  • Sellotape

  • Scissors

What you do:

  • First step is to arrange the toilet rolls, roughly how you’d like them to look all different heights etc.

  • Insert the taller ones into each other, no sticking requires, just a bit of jiggling.

  • Then draw windows, doors and brick effect onto the toilet rolls which are now castle towers

  • Then cut the tops of each tower all the way around and then fold every other part to make the effect of the top of the tower

  • Then use double sided tape or glue to stick the towers where you would like them to go

  • The get a piece of paper or card to make into a cone and sellotape to the top

  • The make a flag out of paper and pop through the hole in the top of one of the cone roofs

Violla you have a home made castle made out of all the panic bought loo roll!

Please feel free to share what your creation looks like in the comments or join our Facebook Community here.
