Network of Skills

Our single parents are awesome and a huge part of SPW is utilising the skills of this network. Whatever skills you have we will be happy to have you onboard. We have single parents who run the online Facebook Group, write policies and procedures, facilitate workshops and truly lead the way.

If you want to have a voice as a single parent in Wales join our Campaign group, we have a great group of Volunteers that respond to the Welsh Government around issues surrounding single parents, write blogs, change things within SPW, start campaigns and more.

We value every volunteer in the same way so if you just want to help out at events that's great too!

Why Volunteer with SPW?

If you’re looking for a community of like minded people who want to support and give opportunities to single parents to be connected then you’d make a great volunteer.

Once you’ve met our friendly Volunteer engagement manager, Rachel, we’ll set you up with access to our Volunteer Peer Lead Training. This initial training gives you everything you need to know about volunteering with Single Parents Wellbeing.

What can I do?

You might volunteer your time on an adhoc basis, come along to do teas and coffees at some of our youth sessions, offer your skills as a creative or physical facilitator, offer to run a session monthly or buddy up with another volunteer to do something more regularly. We understand more than most the needs of single parents and appreciate any time our volunteers can offer for events.

Are there any benefits to volunteering?

We have seen with our current volunteers how working together within this volunteer community on projects and events can boost mental health and confidence. As part of the THRIVE Project we offer further training and workshops to help boost your skills and improve your knowledge - all great for enhancing that CV and a huge boost for self esteem. We also offer Tempo time credits so you can explore local places for free as a thank you for your time!

What support is there for Volunteers?

As well as regular one-to-ones or/and check ins, we have monthly in-person catch ups where we all come together to chat through what’s going well, any new ideas as well as any further support that is needed. We encourage our volunteers to buddy-up to help run events and there is a team at SPW to help organise and establish new events. Alongside this you’ll become part of a wonderful volunteer community within the wider Single Parents Membership with a group of supportive, friendly, understanding single parents beside you.

If you’ve had an idea of an activity or event for single parents that could work really well in your area please reach out to rachel@singleparentswellbeing.com and to sign up to volunteer with us please click below.

Together we can turn your idea into a wonderful opportunity for community, connection and to THRIVE together.
